After 18 months of training at Nyangombe Christian Training Centre, 22 carpentry, building and tailoring students successfully graduated, having learned a “skill for life”.
Many previous tailoring students now have steady jobs . They often join together to form co-operatives and tender to schools to make up to 300 school uniforms. This keeps everyone busy, which results in their families being well looked after.
This is also true of building and carpentry trainees. They leave Nyangombe with a good kit of tools gifted to them by dedicated individuals and the charity Tools With A Mission. The means they can begin work immediately and earn a living. Some now hold very good jobs in the copper mines and are commended for their good behaviour, timekeeping, honesty and integrity at work.
Hearing such news makes the trainers justifiably proud of their students. But their success doesn’t happen by accident. Regular teaching from God’s Word has a profound impact on the trainees who pass through Nyangombe. They learn how the Bible can be applied to their lives. So, not only do they come away with a practical “skill for life” – they also leave with life qualities which become part of who they are.
